Spiced Shrimp

If you haven't guessed, I am a big fan of shrimp. These crustaceans are one of my favourites. My love for shrimp started early when I would stuff my mouth with Shrimp Tempura at least once every week. A fun fact: An average shrimp has 10 legs!!! ;)

Since we have a bit of shrimp available, I wanted to try something new and divert from the usual buttered shrimp. I remember this spiced chicken fajitas that I made a year back and thought that the spices could work as a marinade. It did work well! :)

For the marinade/spices

- 1 tablespoon chili powder (more, if you like it spicier! :P)
- a pinch of salt
- 1/4 tablespoon cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon spanish paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- a dash of pepper

- 1 tablespoon butter
- red onions, diced (White onions would work too!)
- garlic, diced (LOTS! Haha! to make it garlicky ;))
- 2 pcs. of calamansi
- 1/4 kg. of shrimp

Marinade shrimp with all the spices. Add the olive oil and mix well. In a pan, melt the butter and saute the onions and garlic. Add your marinated shrimp. Cook shrimp until it turns orange. For some zing, add juice from the calamansi. Add salt/pepper according to your liking. Serve hot over a steaming cup of rice.

That my friends is how you do a simple spiced shrimp. Enjoy!
